ICANN
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and

was formed to assume responsibility for the IP
address space allocation, protocol parameter
assignment, domain name system management, and root
server system management functions.
Address

The purpose of the ASO is to review and develop
recommendations on Internet policy and structure in
relation to the system of IP addresses, and to
advise the ICANN Board on these matters.
Domain
Name Supporting
Organization
The DNSO advises the ICANN Board on policy issues
relating to the domain name system (DNS) - the
system of names commonly used to identify Internet
locations and resources. The domain name system
translates these heirarchically-structured,
easy-to-remember names (like www.icann.org) into IP
addresses that have been assigned to specific
computers.
Protocol
Supporting
Organization
The PSO advises the ICANN Board with respect to
matters relating to the assignment of parameters
for Internet protocols, technical standards that
let computers exchange information and manage
communications over the Internet.
IANA
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority is the
central coordinator for the assignment of unique
parameter values for Internet protocols. The IANA
acts as the clearinghouse to assign and coordinate
the use of numerous Internet protocol
parameters.
IETF
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is a
large open international community of network
designers, operators, vendors, and researchers
concerned with the evolution of the Internet
architecture and the smooth operation of the
Internet. It is open to any interested
individual.
ICANN
Watch

and global domain name policy.
Domain
Name Rights
Coalition
The Domain Name Rights Coalition (DNRC) represents
the interests and views of entrepreneurs, small
